Firewood season is upon us! Asylum Anne with SLS Lines

So let's head out to the forest to get us some firewood for winter.  Or has someone beaten us to it?

There is a tradition of people who don't want some precious tree cut down, to climb up and live in it.  Doesn't stop the tree getting ring-barked perhaps, but sometimes the tree gets a reprieve.  Also in NZ almost all our native trees - which look gorgeous as furniture, floor boards etc, are now protected.  Occasionally a specific tree will be allowed to be chopped down - Selective Logging, it's called.

These days the Grim Reaper has a lot of technical machinery to help him select & harvest his trees, regardless of who is hugging them - or have the tables been turned???   Looks like the Grim Reaper has enlisted the help of trees to capture his next "crop" of humans!  Shades of Old Man Willow!!! (Middle Earth) or is that Twisted Willow (Harry Potter)?  Whichever, SOMEthing inspired The Artist at  SLS Lines  to create a tree hugger with a difference!  And that in turn inspired me!  Now I'm a big rubber fan, but for once having a digi stamp to work with paid off - I have used that image six times on this page in different sizes.  Sometimes on paper, sometimes on acetate.  The text was also printed on acetate in a thick font.  Though I'm thumbing my nose at what is considered "modern" - these days it's actually helicopters, but this is Art - one uses what one has.

Do you like that ghostly treehugger being hauled up by the biplane?

Another way to use the digi - with a chippie superimposed - the hugger being hugged... by Death.

and swinging from ropes, being lifted out of the forest (acetate coloured with alcohol inks), and as a "logo" on the balloon (uncoloured acetate). The balloon operators are tiny people from Silver Crow Creations The chipboards came from Creative Embellishments who have a great selection of steampunk chippies, but I totally resisted the temptation to punk up the airships - the Grim Reaper might be even more modern than Steampunk!

Oh, you don't get the picture?  Oops, here's the whole page -
I suggest you stay away from trees - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
